February 17th – SOCK with tunes by DJ Mitch Matthews

SOCK

SOCK were formed in a small town in 1990, always unpredictable and flamboyant, they reigned supreme for two years before dispersing to the four corners of the world to pursue their individual dreams. After 22 years, the band reformed for a one-off gig that coincided with singer Guy adopting the on-stage persona of glam rock-god, Vince Venus and gaining international fame as the (unofficial) winner of Britain’s Got Talent in 2015. The rest of the band followed suit and have emerged as a group of misfit superhero’s, on a mission to save the world.

DJ Mitch Matthews will be spinning big party tunes, in to the early hours.

Private party DJ playing once-in-a-lifetime events for everyone from Oscar winners and Chart topping singers  to Olympians at venues including the Royal Albert Hall, Villa Miani Rome, Jumeriah Beach in Dubai and my mums 60th birthday party.

Self-described as a “movement for positive social change”, Action for Happiness is a national charity aimed at increasing basic levels of happiness through whatever means they have and is a long-term friend of Latest Music Bar. Here’s what they have to say about their mission….

We’re bringing together people from all walks of life who want to play a part in creating a happier society for everyone. For fifty years we’ve aimed relentlessly at higher incomes. But despite being much wealthier, we’re no happier than we were five decades ago. At the same time we’ve seen an increase in wider social issues, including a worrying rise in anxiety and depression in young people. It’s time for a positive change in what we mean by progress.

1st February – Catalyst Club Special: Howerd’s End with Mark Farrelly and Simon Cartwright

Howerd’s End Written by Mark Farrelly

With Simon Cartwright as Frankie Howerd and Mark Farrelly as Dennis Heymer
Directed by Joe Harmston

Frankie Howerd was one of Britain’s most loved comedians for half a century. But he had a secret. And the secret’s name was Dennis.

This hugely acclaimed play by Mark Farrelly (Quentin Crisp: Naked Hope, The Silence of Snow) takes you to the heart of Frankie and Dennis’ clandestine relationship, which lasted from the 1950s until Frankie’s death in 1992. It also affords a glorious opportunity to encounter Frankie in full-flight stand up mode.

Packed with laughter, but unafraid of truth, Howerd’s End portrays two humans’ journey through closeness, love, grief and all the other things that make life worth living. Come and say farewell to a legend… and learn the art of letting go.

Running time: 80 mins no interval
