The Space:

interviews with actor Julian Glover and artist Stanley Donwood

Julian Glover CBE is an actor familiar to many, at least partly due to his roles in various popular films and television shows. They include the first Star Wars sequel, an Indiana Jones epic, a James Bond adventure and a phenomenally successful medieval fantasy TV series. The Olivier Award-winning veteran actor has appeared in a vast amount of productions. He is most known for playing villainous characters, such as in INDIANA JONES AND THE LAST CRUSADE, THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK, as General Veers, and FOR YOUR EYES ONLY, as well as the classic Tom Baker DOCTOR WHO story CITY OF DEATH. In recent years, he appeared in GAME OF THRONES as Grand Maester Pycelle. Julian also appeared in the acclaimed Richard Attenborough film CRY FREEDOM.

Stanley Donwood is a highly renowned artist, perhaps best known for creating artwork for Radiohead, including album covers, such as OK COMPUTER. He and Thom Yorke met as art students and have collaborated for nearly 25 years, since Radiohead’s single My Iron Lung. Stanley’s work also includes a wide range of large screenprints, covers for JG Ballard novels, artwork for the Glastonbury Festival and art installations in Bristol, London, the Netherlands and Sydney. Through his striking work, he partly explores and questions society, sexuality, war, conformity and politics. He has written several books of short stories. He maintains a highly informative website, which includes an insightful blog. www.slowlydownward.com www.twitter.com/stanleydonwood

Live Planet presents:

Dirty Sound Magnet
+ special guests

Mystic Rock power trio that will blow your mind away with its unique multi-faceted compositions and virtuosity.

From catchy rock’n’roll high-energy rock songs to shamanic psychedelia, a Dirty Sound Magnet show represents an amazing experience for any music lover. At any time, an outburst of raw electrifying energy can transform into emotionally overwhelming and mysterious landscapes made of complex colourful layers. The eye sees three musicians while the ear hears an orchestra. And every night the music is different…

In april 2017, the song Homo Economicus won the award in the category best Swiss rock song 2017 and got radio airplay in several countries. Ever since, the band has embarked on a never ending tour around Europe filling up venues and festivals. The album Western Lies was released on May 12 earning praize from both critics and audiences.

The album denounces our capitalist society sarcastically and metaphorically. The atmosphere is dark, disturbing and full of mysticism. Hints of film music, inspired and powerful rock songs, electronic loops, unique guitar solos and dreamy melodies will take the audience on an unexpected spiritual journey.

Western Lies is a DIY project. During one year, the musicians isolated themselves from the outside world in their self-built studio to create their very own sound. On every level, the experimentations led to a unique album. The songwriting, the sound and the atmosphere that shines on Western Lies are beyond classification. Let’s call this genre Mystic Rock or Creative Rock.

Harvey Causen

Calm and understated, Bristol’s Harvey Causon is turning heads with his deft take on contemporary R&B, percussive electronica and powerful, brooding vocal that sounds far more world wearied than his 20 years. Harvey writes and produces his own tracks, as well as collaborating with producer and flatmate, Gabriel Gifford.
