19th September – Wyldest

Wlydest

Doors 7pm // Latest Music Bar // Tickets

The musical evolution of Zoe Mead, aka Wyldest, has been a slow but steady one – a mix of deliberate exploration, a natural shifting in taste, and a certain virus twisting her arm. After recording drums for 20 songs touted for her second album – Monthly Friend – last February, the impending lockdown then took studio time off the table.

Plus Jemima Coulter

Jemima Coulter’s music exists in an impressionistic reverie, somewhere between a hallucination and the waking world. Populated bystories of body-swapping and clowns, Coulter’s music takes us beyond the personal, traveling from London to Perugia, to the circus and the sea. But for Coulter, stories aren’t simply an escape route, away out of a painful reality; instead they offer a resting place for the weary traveler—a glimpse of real magic in a portrait of the surreal.

July 7th-Lysistrata the Sex War

A Riotous New Adaptation Of “Lysistrata the Sex War” By Tim Coakley

Doors 7:30pm // Latest Musicbar // Tickets £11

Often called the raunchiest and the funniest play to come out of ancient Greece, LYSISTRATA has been a popular play throughout the ages and this fresh and entertaining new version does not disappoint.
The timeless story goes like this. The men of two opposing countries are waging a senseless war against one another and no one can stop this dragging on.
To try to put a stop to this, the women on both sides, led by Lysistrata, stage a sex strike in a bid to establish peace with some hilarious outcomes
Today when other senseless wars are being waged around the world and women are asserting their rights, this play could not be more relevant or more topical.
Written in earthier times, this play does contain some ADULT CONTENT
After all they were written by Aristophanes, and this is a classic of world literature.
So, in a nutshell what’s it about? War and sex of course! What more do you want?

June 16th – Hope Cove

Hope Cove

Doors 7:30pm // Latest MusicBar // 18+ // Tickets £5.50

Hope Cove are a rambunctious, genre bending folk band from England’s Southern Coast. Playing a combination of traditional Celtic folk, Americana, bluegrass, sea shanties and blues, Hope Cove have become a staple in the Sussex folk circles.

Fiddle, banjo and guitar form the heart of their foot-stomping folk compositions, aided by their lilting vocal harmonies, shruti box and suitcase drum. Spinning traditional melodies and upbeat arrangements into riotous revelries, the trio’s lively and enthralling shows have made them a fixture in Brighton and Hove’s music scene. After an explosive headline show at this year’s St Patrick’s Day Street Party and a regular slot at England’s Medieval Festival, the band are excited to be involved with this year’s Battlefield Bluegrass festival and Brighton’s Early Music Festival, where they will be tracing a traditional musical journey from the British Isles to America, in an exploration of transatlantic folk song and ballads.

The band includes founding members of The Dillyboys and The Lures, whose previous achievements include performing a regular headline slot at the oldest UK folk festival, Sidmouth Folk Week and collaborating with Phil Beer and Martin & Eliza Carthy.

As Lemons, artists Ole Hagen and Hannah Jowett perform material based on Ole’s 2021 poetry collection, Lemon In Orbit (Pindrop Press). They explore the fleeting borders between speech, song and vocal innovation in combination with the rich potential textures of Hannah’s electric bass. They deliver a condensed and atmospheric set of mysterious and quirky poetry set to music, resulting in songs and soundscapes with an otherworldly tinge.
